This chart shows the population shift for every state for 100 years. See how Maine has changed

Vox built a pretty cool — and chaotic — infographic that shows how the state populations changed from 1910 to 2010.

In that time, Maine dropped from 34th to 41st in terms of population.

One hundred fifteen years ago, we had a population of 742,371. That number had grown by only 585,990 in the 2010 Census.

Vox’s map is inspired by an 1886 chart, which showed that Maine’s population over the previous 90 years — overlapping the Industrial Revolution — increased by nearly seven times.
